PRODUCTION- Analysing strengths and weaknesses and setting targets

Strengths
  • Lots of research into real life title sequences with lots of visual examples.
  • Use of presentational devices such as gifs or screenshots in every post.
  • Use of different layout and font for the text, making it stand out and more eye catching.
  • Detailed research into similar products and deep analysing.

Weaknesses
  • Not managing my time and organisation for some posts.
  • Not balancing out the amount of work I do in each post. I may sometimes do too much on one post and not as much in others.
  • Might type too much and give excessive information when it isn't needed.

Threats
  • Lack of collaboration with the rest of the group sometimes resulted in untidy group post.
  • Left some post to the last minute meaning it was rushed and not as good as it should of been.

Opportunities
  • I can use more creative way of structuring my blog posts by using even more presentational devices.
  • I can put personal targets for myself each week, for example going back into 3-5 previous posts each weak and editing them if they need to be developed.
  • Learnt new ways of importing pictures, videos etc in order to make my work stand out and get the best possible mark.

Setting Targets
  1. Complete work as soon as possible and not leave it to the last minute.
  2. Have a clear idea of what I am going to do before I start each blog post.
  3. Make my work stand out and do it to the best of my ability.

PRODUCTION- rough cut evaluation

Rough Cut Evaluation

From my perspective, I think our rough cut was well done even though we have enough time to film the rough cut  of the title sequence it is acceptable. Due to not being able to film we didn't have enough shots therefore the rough cut didn't go to as planned. However there is a range of shots which shows ideas coming through for example, the boy and girl getting ready which is synchronized illustrating to the audience that the genre romance with the sub-genre as comedy because of how lazy and messy the boy is. various amounts of shots put forward the atmosphere as it is quick and snappy. Putting each shot into action went well as our shot list was simple and straight forward. This advantage helped us with timing. One disadvantage with filming was that it wasn't bright enough for us to put the idea of comedy forward considering this as it was the winter season. However we have enough time to film again or we can simply change it in editing.

Editing helped the title sequence as it helped us see what kind of outcome we have. Editing the title sequence made it seem more professional and clear that shots we have taken is appropriate and useful and gave a hint of what we have to change. Over all the rough cut was better than expected therefore we don't have to retake certain shots.

PLANNING- Distribution company ( by Gunes)

DISTRIBUTION COMPANY

We chose for our distribution company to be mainstream. This is because all movies we have been influenced by are mainstream such as the Ugly Truth, 10 things i hate about you and legally blonde. Mainstream films have a high budget through the distribution company-

Budget$38 million

^ The Ugly Truth. we have designed our own distribution company- Dove Productions similar to other mainstream companies such as:

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

Marketisation

The marketing tools- YouTube- trailer of the movie, billboards- pictures of actors to attract audience, raising awareness themselves via social media accounts- Instagram and Twitter.

Social media- legally blonde has its own website but it is the musical rather than the film itself, all mainstream companies have advertised themselves on social media accounts such as having twitter about the whole film itself e.g The Ugly Truth.

PRODUCTION- Rough Cut Evaluation

                                                               Rough Cut Evaluation

Personally, I think that the rough cut for our film went slightly better than we thought considering what we expected would happen due to our troubles filming. We couldn't film on certain days because of various of reasons therefore we were a bit short on shots for our film but we had enough to do the editing. The editing was the bit that really stood out because we used a wide range of skills to make it look efficient and added some of our own techniques to make it look really professional. It would of been better if we had all our shots in place for the editing because then we can look for the strengths and weaknesses in our film and improve it quite a lot when it came to our final piece.

As mentioned above, we were slightly disappointed with our filming because we didn't manage to film all the shots but in the shots that we did film, we used all the techniques and skills that were required and used a lot of varied shots to make our shots look appealing and for it to stand out. We had a clear idea of the sequence of the shots as we planned it beforehand and it was just a matter of putting those shots into action. We knew how to set up the equipment and how to use them so we didn't really have much trouble in that concept. We did face a slight problem whilst doing our filming and that was that we didn't have much lighting as it was winter and it turned dark really early. We based our film on a vibrant and happy scenery and one of our main resources was to have bright lighting so it bonded well with our theme. However, I think that we did a good job in our rough cut and we have learnt a lot of skills and techniques that we will take into our final piece of work.
Below are a few clips of our film in the rough cut.

PRODUCTION - Evaluation of rough cut

Evaluation of Rough Cut

I think our rough cut came out really well considering we didn't get to film the other half of our title sequence.  The order of shots make sense because there was different angles of the same thing e.g. someone walking out the room:

The quality of the camera work was good, but the only thing that was a letdown was the lighting.  As our coursework is happening during the winter time, it starts to get dark really early which means shots will have different lighting.  The lighting in all the shots are very different, so the shots that have come out the darkest will be filmed again.

There was a lot of different shots used so it makes the opening sequence more interesting and the audience doesn't get bored.

The characters in the opening sequence acted really well.

The mis-en-scene could of been shown more for the girl as the boys is shown clearly e.g. his room:
