7. What does this information about genre tell you?

This information tells us that most people like to watch animation and action films as they had a combined total of 77 films released, however their combined gross box office would be £462 million. The least popular genre is war, probably because there was only 5 released that were not so successful. This information also tells me that most films produced are comedies (153 films) which is why it probably has the third highest gross box office.

A broader range such as: One Direction: This Is Us, About Time and Frozen. They also seemed to like UK films.

6. UK films appealed most to which audience type?

To a British audience.

7. Which 3 films were most popular with the 7-14 age group? What does this tell us about their preferred genre?

One Direction: This Is Us, Wreck it Ralph and Despicable Me 2 were most popular with children in the 7-14 age group. This tells us that younger people watch animation more than other age groups.

8. The 3 most popular films with the 35-44 age group were Frozen, The Croods and Jack and The Giant Slayer. Why might this be how does this contribute to animation being the most successful genre at the box office?

The reason why I think that these animated films are popular in that age group is because the people who are between the 35-44 age group are parents that take their kids to watch this particular genre of film. This then increases the amount of people who watch certain films (such as The Croods).

Django Unchained, Fast and Furious 6 and Rush were the most popular films viewed by ages 25-34.

10. Which films were most successful with middle class audiences(C1 and C2)?

Family films, comedies and action films appealed most to the C2 group. Fast & Furious 6 and Despicable Me 2 attracted above-average audiences by C2. The C1 social group were attracted to a range of genres, including action, sci-fi and drama. The most popular titles amongst audiences in this group were Rush, Captain Phillips and Gravity.

11. Look at the tables for popular films in London and Scotland. What differences are there and what conclusions can you make about the types of films they appear to prefer?

There is a variety of genre preferences (from western, action, science fiction etc.) in both London and Scotland. The film preference depends on the individuals likes and interests. For example 'Filth' is based in Scotland and is a Scottish film, therefore it is more popular in Scotland than in London.
